Papua, located on the western half of the island of New Guinea, shares a land border with Papua New Guinea and lies immediately north of Australia. New Guinea is the world's second-largest island and is renowned for its exceptional cultural diversity and rich terrestrial and marine biodiversity.

The Orange Bridge Foundation (OBF), established in July 2026, is an Indigenous Papuan non-profit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of Indigenous communities through inclusive and sustainable development.

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) in 2026, the population of the six provinces of Papua is 6.494.400 people, while the indigenous Melanesian population is estimated at around 2.3 million. Each year, the BPS designates Papua as the poorest region in Indonesia. And those severely affected by poverty are the indigenous Papuan people.

OBF's programmes focus on supporting Indigenous communities through initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods, quality education, environmental conservation, gender equality, cultural preservation, and community resilience. These programmes are designed to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive development in areas where many Indigenous communities continue to face significant socio-economic challenges.
